HR steel is the foundational raw material from which all other steel types are derived. As Bangladesh has no domestic HR manufacturing, all major producers — TK, KSRM, S Alam, BSRM — import HR from the international market.

Primary base steel: CR, GI, GA, and Color Coils are all further processed from HR.

CR steel is produced by continuously rolling Hot Rolled steel under pressure, forming thinner and more precise steel sheets. Bangladesh has 6–7 CR manufacturers but domestic production still cannot meet national demand.
